Halloween, Parent Portal, Extracurricular Activities, Extra Help, Marking Period (Quarter 2)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Soon we will be celebrating Halloween and then the Thanksgiving holiday and I want to wish your families all of the best. As always, I am thankful to be a part of the North Babylon community.
Halloween: As Halloween approaches, your child’s safety is our first concern. Students will be allowed to dress up, however, we urge you to guide their selection of costumes. We are asking that students are appropriately dressed. Costume accessories such as toy guns and other paraphernalia that encourage violence will not be permitted. Masks are not to be worn by any of the students, and every student’s face must be identifiable. These restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety of our students.
Parent Portal: Our Parent Portal and Student Portal can give you important information about your child’s academic progress, increase the timeliness of the information, improve efficiency and keep costs down. Teachers are regularly updating the portal with individual assignments. Please be sure to discuss these updates with your child on a regular basis. For assistance with Parent Portal login credentials, please email to: portalhelp@northbabylonschools.net. You can always schedule a phone call, online meeting, or in person meeting with teachers or school counselors.
Parent Square: Parent Square offers a variety of tools to improve parent and school communication such as: Alerts, Calendar Events, Direct Messaging to parents from teachers, Attendance correspondence, Sign-ups for various school events and other informative communication between school and home. You can access the Parent Square App on our district website under the Parent Resources Tab you will find Parent Square Support. Please know that we will be sharing Progress Reports and Report Cards via Parent Square.
Extra Help & Extracurricular Activities: Our high school is a busy place that is filled with opportunities. Please discuss with your child the importance of being involved in clubs and sports. Please remember extra help is available as per the Extra Help Schedule on the High School page of our District Website under the Parents and Students tab. Transportation is available after extra help for those students who take a bus to school. Also, please see the Extracurricular Clubs and Activities on the same page of the website for a list of clubs. We recently had our Club Fair and I encourage all of our students to get involved!
Second Marking Period: The second marking period will begin on November 7, 2025. As we begin this new marking period, please discuss with your child how they can set academic goals for the next quarter and how they can get involved in clubs or athletics at North Babylon High School. As both an educator and parent of two, I know how hard it is to navigate the online world of social media, coordinate multiple activities and make quality time for our children. Our teachers, counselors, deans and administrators are always willing to help you and your children.
Thanksgiving: Gratitude is attitude! As we approach the holiday, it is an excellent opportunity to reflect on all the wonderful opportunities and support our North Babylon Community provides.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jonathan Klomp
Principal
